Juan Felix Lopez (Málaga, 1973), graduated in Biology at the University of Málaga, where he also completed his training as a fellow graduate of the Ministry of Education and Science, led by PhD. Antonia Gutiérrez Pérez, Professor in the Department of Cell Biology, Genetics and Physiology of the Faculty of Science. His doctoral thesis focused on the characterization by immunohistochemical techniques, at the level of light and electron microscopy, and molecular, of changes produced in the temporal expression of specific markers of GABAergic and glutamatergic neurotransmission systems during postnatal development of the rat hippocampus. During his thesis, spent a three months training-stay in the laboratory of PhD. Susan Sesack, from the Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh (USA), specialized in the study of the nervous system by transmission electron microscopy. After completing his thesis, he joined the Laboratory of Neurobiology led by PhD. Zafaruddin Khan, located in the Centre for Health and Medical Research of the University of Málaga, where he has been developing a work as a Specialist Technician in different areas (Molecular Biology, Cell Culture, Stereotaxic Surgery, Immunocytochemistry and Immunohistochemistry). First as a member of the scientific group of Junta de Andalucia CTS-0161, led by PhD. Adelaida de la Calle, and then part of the CTS-586 group, led by PhD. Khan, has been involved in various R&D projects and has contributed to several scientific publications. Since December 2012, is in charge of the BIONAND’s Electron Microscopy Facillity as a Specialist Technician.
